Description
Za’atar Manakish is a traditional Levantine flatbread topped with a mixture of za’atar spices and olive oil.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup za’atar spice mix
- 2 tablespoons additional olive oil for topping
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Punch down the dough and divide it into small balls.
- Roll each ball into a flat circle.
- Mix za’atar with olive oil to create a paste.
- Spread the za’atar mixture on each flatbread.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
