- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup fish sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 green onion, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the sugar in a pan over medium heat until it melts and turns golden brown.
- Add the water and fish sauce to the caramel, stirring until combined.
- In another pan, heat the oil and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
- Add the shrimp and cook until they turn pink.
- Pour the caramel sauce over the shrimp and mix well.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Garnish with green onions before serving.
Notes
- Serve with steamed rice.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar.
