Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Drain and rinse soaked chickpeas.
  2. In a pot, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add curry powder and cumin, stirring for one minute.
  4. Add chickpeas and water, season with salt.
  5. Simmer for 30-40 minutes until chickpeas are tender.
  6. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, turmeric, and salt.
  7. Add warm water gradually to form a dough.
  8. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes.
  9. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
  10. Divide and roll into small balls, then flatten.
  11. Heat oil in a pan and fry each bara until golden brown.
  12. Serve chickpeas on bara bread.
