Description
A rich and moist dessert made with dates and drizzled with toffee sauce.
Ingredients

- 200g pitted dates
- 250ml boiling water
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 100g unsalted butter, softened
- 150g brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 200g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Chop the dates and combine with boiling water and baking soda. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- In a bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Stir in the date mixture.
- Sift in the flour, baking powder, and fold gently.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until a skewer comes out clean.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
- Can be made ahead and reheated.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
