Description
Pikliz is a spicy pickled cabbage slaw popular in Haitian cuisine.
Ingredients

- 1 small head of cabbage, shredded
- 2 carrots, grated
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2–3 Scotch bonnet peppers, whole
- 2 cups white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrots, bell pepper, onion, and garlic.
- Add whole Scotch bonnet peppers for heat.
- In a separate bowl, mix vinegar, salt, and black pepper.
- Pour the vinegar mixture over the vegetables.
- Pack the mixture into a clean jar, ensuring the vegetables are submerged.
- Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
Notes
- Adjust the number of Scotch bonnet peppers based on your spice preference.
- Letting it sit longer enhances the flavor.
- Serve as a side dish or topping for meats and sandwiches.
