Description
Pani Puri, also known as Gol Gappa, is a popular Indian street food. It consists of hollow puris filled with spicy water and flavored with tamarind.
Ingredients
- Semolina (Suji) – 1 cup
- All-purpose flour (Maida) – 2 tablespoons
- Baking soda – a pinch
- Water – as needed
- Chickpeas – 1 cup (boiled)
- Potatoes – 1 cup (boiled and mashed)
- Tamarind pulp – 2 tablespoons
- Chaat masala – 1 teaspoon
- Mint leaves – 1/2 cup (chopped)
- Cilantro – 1/2 cup (chopped)
- Green chilies – 2 (finely chopped)
- Black salt – to taste
- Regular salt – to taste
Instructions
- Mix semolina, all-purpose flour, and baking soda in a bowl.
- Add water gradually to form a dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Roll out small puris and fry them until puffed and golden.
- In another bowl, mix chickpeas, potatoes, tamarind pulp, mint, cilantro, green chilies, black salt, and regular salt.
- Prepare cold spiced water with mint and tamarind.
- Make a hole in each puri and fill it with the chickpea mixture.
- Serve with spiced water on the side for dipping.
Notes
- Make sure the oil is hot enough for frying puris.
- Adjust the spice level according to your taste.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
