Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons biryani masala
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro and mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pot and sauté the onions until golden brown.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sliced mushrooms. Cook until mushrooms soften.
  4. Mix in tomatoes and cook until they soften.
  5. Add biryani masala and yogurt, stir well.
  6. Add soaked rice and water. Season with salt.
  7. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice and garnish with cilantro and mint.
