Description

Modak is a traditional Indian sweet dumpling made from rice flour and filled with coconut and jaggery.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups rice flour
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 cup jaggery, grated
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon ghee

Instructions

  1. In a pan, heat ghee and add grated coconut and jaggery. Cook until jaggery melts and mixture thickens.
  2. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Boil water in a separate pot and add rice flour. Mix well until it forms a dough.
  4. Take small portions of the dough and shape them into small cups.
  5. Fill each cup with the coconut-jaggery mixture.
  6. Seal the edges and shape into a dumpling.
  7. Steam the dumplings for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Serve warm.

  • Use fresh coconut for better flavor.
