Description

Inarizushi is a type of sushi consisting of sushi rice stuffed in sweet, marinated tofu pockets.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 10 pieces inari age (sweet tofu pockets)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Combine rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker. Cook according to rice cooker instructions.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat until sugar dissolves.
  4. Once rice is cooked, transfer to a large bowl. Gently fold in the vinegar mixture.
  5. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.
  6. Carefully open each inari age pocket.
  7. Fill each pocket with sushi rice, pressing gently to pack it in.
  8. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the filled inarizushi.

Notes

  • Adjust sweetness by varying the amount of sugar in the vinegar mixture.
  • Use a wet spoon to prevent rice from sticking when filling pockets.
