Description

Hibiscus Bissap is a refreshing Senegalese drink made from dried hibiscus flowers.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups dried hibiscus flowers
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves (optional)
  • Juice of 2 limes

Instructions

  1. Rinse the dried hibiscus flowers under cold water.
  2. Boil 8 cups of water in a pot.
  3. Add the rinsed hibiscus flowers to the boiling water.
  4. Simmer for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let it steep for 30 minutes.
  6. Strain the mixture into a pitcher.
  7. Add sugar and stir until dissolved.
  8. Stir in lime juice and mint leaves if using.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator before serving.
  10. Serve over ice.
