- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 chopped green bell pepper
- 2 chopped celery stalks
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 sliced green onions
Instructions
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Drain the excess fat from the pan.
- Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery to the skillet.
- Cook the vegetables until they soften.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for one minute.
- Add the rice and stir to coat it in the juices.
- Pour in the beef broth and add the Cajun seasoning and thyme.
- Bring the liquid to a boil then reduce the heat to low.
- Cover the skillet and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and top with green onions.
Notes
- Replace beef broth with water if needed.
- Add hot sauce for more heat.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
