Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 chopped celery stalks
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Drain the excess fat from the pan.
  3. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery to the skillet.
  4. Cook the vegetables until they soften.
  5. Stir in the garlic and cook for one minute.
  6. Add the rice and stir to coat it in the juices.
  7. Pour in the beef broth and add the Cajun seasoning and thyme.
  8. Bring the liquid to a boil then reduce the heat to low.
  9. Cover the skillet and simmer for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  11. Fluff the rice with a fork and top with green onions.
