Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream (cold)
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese (room temperature)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp alcohol-free vanilla extract or vanilla powder
  • 1 ½ cups strong brewed espresso or coffee (cooled)
  • 1 package ladyfingers (Savoiardi brand recommended)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  2. In another bowl, mix mascarpone, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
  4. Pour the brewed espresso into a shallow dish.
  5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee — do not soak.
  6. Arrange dipped ladyfingers in a single layer in an 8×8 inch dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the layer evenly.
  8. Add a second layer of dipped ladyfingers.
  9. Spread the remaining mascarpone mixture on top.
  10. Sift unsweetened cocoa powder generously over the top.
  11. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

  • Do not over-soak the ladyfingers or the dessert will turn soggy.
  • Chill overnight for best flavor and texture.
  • For a twist, top with chocolate shavings or berries.
  • If mascarpone is unavailable, use a mix of cream cheese and heavy cream.
