  • 1 lb whole milk mozzarella block or 15 string cheese sticks
  • 1 ½ cups plain panko breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) or cooking spray (for air frying)
  • Marinara sauce (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Cut mozzarella block into 12–15 sticks, or use whole string cheese.
  2. Crush panko breadcrumbs slightly and pour into a shallow bowl.
  3. Mix panko with Italian seasoning, parsley, garlic powder, pepper, and salt.
  4. Place flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in another, and panko mix in a third.
  5. Dredge each cheese stick in flour, then egg, then panko. Repeat egg and panko for extra crunch.
  6. Arrange sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 1 hour.
  7. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C), or preheat air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  8. Fry 2–3 sticks at a time for 1 minute until golden, or air fry for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway.
  9. Drain fried sticks on paper towels and serve warm with marinara sauce.

  • Freeze sticks before frying to prevent cheese leakage.
  • Use gluten-free panko and flour for a gluten-free version.
