- 4 large croissants
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons butter (for toasting croissants)
- 1/2 cup lettuce leaves
- 1 large tomato, sliced
- 4 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or honey mustard)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Pound chicken breasts to an even thickness and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Coat chicken in flour, dip in beaten eggs, and dredge in seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing firmly.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Slice croissants horizontally but not all the way through and lightly butter the insides.
- Toast croissants in a pan or oven until lightly crispy.
- Spread mayonnaise or honey mustard inside each croissant.
- Place a crispy chicken fillet inside each croissant, add lettuce, tomato slices, and cheese.
- Close the croissant and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For a lighter version, use grilled chicken instead of fried.
